- Demon’s Bite/Demon Blades/Chaos Strike/Annihilation damage increased by 15%
- UBC adjusted to 500% from 600%
- Unnatural Malice Conduit now empowers damage of The Hunt’s DoT and not the upfront damage.
- Soul Rending now provides 10% leech outside of Meta and an extra 20% in Meta.
- Netherwalk now lasts 6s instead of 5s.
- Desperate Instincts (Talent) now triggers Blur at 50% reduced duration and 50% reduced cooldown when you fall below 35% health
- Relentless Onslaught procs now refund Fury and also can trigger Cycle of Hatred
Talents:
- Unbound Chaos still very good - Glaive Tempest when movement is prohibited.
Glaive Tempest will be a better choice on certain boss fights that may not facilitate excessive movement like Painsmith Raznal Or on Ner'zhul.
- MoMo/Esb for M+ (Not mandatory, but good)
- Soul Rending now provides even more value outside of Meta but Netherwalk should always be chosen if you can find something specific to use it against. I.e. a particular boss mechanic or a deadly wave of damage that you can guarantee surviving through with the use of the talent. Avoiding potential death is always better than minor self healing. Of course there will always be exceptions so it’s up to you to decide which one to use.
Covenant Soulbinds:
Night Fae is still the absolute best option for Havoc in all areas of gameplay - Raiding, M+ and PvP.
For Single Target you’ll want to take Niya w/ Burrs as your soulbind.
The conduits you’ll want to use with Niya are Growing Inferno (which you should put into your upper most potency slot to benefit from the empowered conduit slot) and Relentless Onslaught in the 2nd potency slot.
For AoE and Cleave fights you’ll be taking the bread and butter of the Night Fae covenant, Korayn. Wild Hunt Tactics and First Strike make this an excellent choice for M+ or any encounter where frequent adds spawn which you can get procs from.
The Conduits you’ll use are again, Growing Inferno, but this time around, slot in Unnatural Malice instead of Relentless Onslaught.
Optimal weapons:
To make up for the fact that there aren’t any high ilvl weapons from the last two bosses for us to loot, Blizzard has BLESSED us with some pretty incredible fist weapons from the raid that come with a proc on them.
We’re talking about the Cruciform Veinrippers and man, are they powerful.
They have a pretty potent proc on them that is applied from your direct attacks (auto attacks included) but cannot be spread via AoE abilities like Blade Dance. This proc will ONLY have a chance to apply if - the enemy’s movement is impaired, you’re behind your target OR their movement is impaired.
if you’re wearing two of these, the effects don’t stack but each new proc does refresh the current proc on the target - meaning you’ll have significantly higher uptime on the DoT.
Legendaries:
When it comes to which legendaries we’ll be using in patch 9.1, not much will change. Burning Wound will continue to be a solid choice for both Single Target and 2-5 target cleave scenarios. As we get further ilvl upgrades to our Growing Inferno conduit and the possibility to empower the conduit, Burning Wound will remain a generally low effort, high performance option. Although, if you have previously crafted Burning Wound, you will want to move it (or rather recraft it) onto a cloak. This is because you’ll be using gear with Domination Sockets in your chest slot.
A potential underdog in 9.1 is Darkglare Medallion. In my 9.0.5 guide I recommended players at least make this as a Rank 1. If you took my advice and you have it sitting in your bags, you’re in luck. If you haven’t made it yet - go ahead and craft it, just in case.
The reason Darkglare Medallion has potential this time around is the fact that there are a lot of things that are affected by haste. (Weapon procs, trinkets, Domination shards etc…) Using Darkglare keeps you in Meta longer, meaning more consistent haste. Combine this with the damage buff to Annihilation and it works out to be pretty deadly.
Shards of Domination:
You’ll be able to equip Domination Armor, which has Domination sockets, in up to 5 different slots on your character.
Due to each shard being unique-equipped, you’ll want to use 1 Offensive shard from each Set and then choose to complete whichever set, Blood, Frost or Unholy by filling the other 2 slots with the appropriate type of shards.
Right now, it’s looking like probably the Unholy set as it provides a large chunk of Primary stat and the proc rate is affected by Haste.
